This version is sung by TONY BENNET
The first of the Busby Berkeley Gold Diggers' movies (though he only actually directed the second one) opened with the chorines singing WE'RE IN THE MONEY, which is officially known as THE GOLD DIGGERS' SONG. The companion song was WITH PLENTY OF MONEY AND YOU when Dick Powell gleefully sings on-screen before the opening credits roll. If nothing else, the lyric underscores the mood of the times which, by 1937, was being fuelled by a sense of growing optimism over the American economy.
