"I'll
String Along With You" is the enduring hit from the movie "Twenty
Million Sweethearts". It's a love song and a major item in the Harry
Warren catalogue. The song once again reveals Warren's predilection for the
lyrical flow of the Puccini school of opera. (and Puccini was Harrys idol).
As for the inspiration, he says, "It was another of those casual remarks
that Al Dubin picked up. I think he heard it in a movie, and once he had a
couple of lines of the lyrics I was able to do the whole melody. This was
an easy one."
