This version is sung by Nat King Cole
Billy Rose staged a revue on Broadway, "Crazy Quilt", which opened in May 1931 and starred James Barton and Fannie Brice. Warren supplied four of the songs, one of them with Ira Gershwin. This was "In the MerrY Month Of Maybe," which gained some popularity, although nothing compared to the strength of "I Found A Million Dollar Baby." Bing Crosby helped make it a national favorite, and it is now possible to look upon it as a uniquely American song, expressing a style and sentiment that could not have originated elsewhere. It also bears examination for its musical construction and its gentle cadences.
